Simulated assembly, testing of the dimmer

11 Apr 2019

Quantify Technology are pleased to give you the first look at the small-scale assembly of the dimmer, for the purpose of testing. The dimmer is the second product in our qDimmer series.

The video below showcases the simulated production process and the people involved to bring this product together. This process is part of an initial testing phase as Quantify prepares for mass manufacture.

Firstly, the firmware is loaded and initial function tests are undertaken.  Manufacturing data is then injected into the processor board.  The boards are then soldered together and placed into housings.  These units then go through final product testing before being labelled and packaged for shipping.

The dimmer acts as the connection between the qDimmer device, the home and the end user.  The dimmer is installed into the home’s standard AC wiring system in place of the normal wall light switch. The qDimmer device (as a whole) has the ability to control various aspects of the home, such as lighting, via touch.

As mentioned in our previous video, the Feature Cards are inserted into the dimmers to enable the devices to have network connectivity.

About the videos:

These videos are designed to showcase Quantify’s simulated small-scale production line. This process exists to allow our engineers to identify the correct processes and test points for each product ahead of mass production.
